The Festival Internacional de Panticosa “Tocando el Cielo” was founded with the aim of bringing a musical and artistic experience of international fame to the high peaks of the Aragonese Pyrenees. Between the end of July and the beginning of August, musicians attracted to these mountains show their music and art in a place where music and nature come together in unique and outstanding surroundings.
The spa town where the Festival takes place was called “the Spanish Switzerland” until the middle of the twentieth century. Located at 1,636 metres above sea-level in the heart of the Aragonese Pyrenees, the Festival attracts internationally renowned figures such as the Cuarteto Casals, the Ludwig Trio, the Quartetto di Cremona, Hyo-Sun Lin, Luis Fernando Pérez, Lucas Macías, Andreas Sunden, Francisco Antonio García, Guilhaume Santana, Enrique Bagaría, the Dúo Moreno Gistaín, Mariano García, Iñaki Alberdi, Eugenia Boix…
The Spanish composer Antón García Abril and the mezzosoprano Teresa Berganza are international ambassadors of the Festival. Both of them are Spanish National Music Prize holders and internationally recognized musical figures.
The Festival encourages the creation of new audiences by means of its Festival Off, with musical activities that promote young talent, music teaching activities, exhibitions, audio-visuals and events in collaboration with amateur cultural institutions from the region. It also fosters artistic interaction by incorporating its own productions, where dance and theatre are present.
“Tocando el Cielo” is an active young festival which goes in partnership with the cultural and social events in the region, always respecting criteria of sustainability. It provides musical experiences making the culture of this Pyrenean valley better known while offering the visitor a possibility to get to know its local handicrafts, gastronomy, history and the healing properties of the waters of the spa where it takes place.
