The Renaissance and Baroque Music Festival of Vélez Blanco (Almería) is the result of the long musical tradition of this municipality in Almería, which dates back to the 16th century. It is one of the European festivals that combine music and heritage, and is held in a municipality with a rich historical heritage.

The beauty of the surroundings and the Renaissance and Baroque monuments where it is held is combined with a unique programme that includes 1) daytime and evening concerts, 2) performance courses - sackbut, viola da gamba, organ, singing, choral singing, Baroque orchestra throughout the day and 3) historical contextualisation conferences. All this creates a magical atmosphere of music, culture and conviviality.

Throughout its 20 years, this Festival has created its own line defined by: 1) the high quality and national and international trajectory of the groups, orchestras and soloists who have performed; 2) the recovery and dissemination of Spanish musical heritage with the incorporation of new or less frequent repertoire; 3) specialised training in the performance of Renaissance and Baroque music, particularly among young people; 4) the deepening of the historical context of the music heard; 5) the visibility and prestige of women as composers and performers, and 6) the contribution to the sustainable development of the area.

Among the groups, soloists and orchestras that have performed throughout its 20 years are El Concierto Español, Lacrimae Consort, Jordi Savall, La Grande Chapelle, Al Ayre Español, Helsinki Baroque Orchestra, La Real Cámara, Musica Fiata Köln, La Galanía, Forma Antiqua, Durendal Ensemble, La Capilla Real, Capilla nivariense, Los Músicos de su Alteza, La Folia, Capella de Ministrers, Orquesta Barroca de Sevilla, Orquesta Barroca de Cataluña, Orquesta Ciudad de Granada, Orquesta de San Petersburgo, Orquesta Ciudad de Almería, Schola Gregoriana Hispana, Carlos Mena, Roberta Invernizzi, Christiane Oelze, Mariví Blasco, Erika Escribá, Monika Mauch, etc.
